Staying with Sir Richard Branson in Mallorca

Rent a Villa from Sir Richard Branson in Mallorca – Virgin Limited Edition

Villa “Sa Punta de S’Aguila” translates to “Eagle’s Viewpoint,” and the name is well deserved. This grand estate offers its residents a breathtaking view over the deep blue sea, a privilege otherwise reserved for eagles soaring high above. It’s no wonder that British billionaire and Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson appreciates this place so much. Herbert Adler enjoyed a luxurious long weekend here with Landmark.

A rural idyll greets us upon arrival at the finca. Nestled among vineyards, olive groves, and lemon trees, we find a rustic stone country house dating back to the 13th century, with massive wooden ceiling beams and a cozy fireplace in the spacious living room. We quickly hand our luggage over to the friendly staff and dive into the refreshing pool—after all, the sun is blazing in the sky. The dust of the journey washes away instantly as we splash around joyfully. Afterward, we relax on the comfortable sun loungers until dinner is served on the large terrace. Our private chef has prepared a three-course meal featuring our favorite dishes, making our mouths water at first glance. Full and happy, we spend the evening outdoors with refreshing cocktails, admiring the sparkling night sky.

The next morning, we reluctantly leave our cozy beds only when the sun is already high in the sky. Still a little drowsy, we settle into the comfortable wicker chairs around the large dining table, where a delicious breakfast awaits us—thoughtfully prepared the night before by our helpful hosts. Fresh fruit and orange juice provide an early-morning vitamin boost, filling us with new energy. Revitalized, we engage in an intense tennis match on the finca’s private court, working up a serious sweat. By the time we finish showering, a lunch buffet filled with local specialties is already set on the table. Feeling full and content, I retreat with my vacation novel to the hammock stretched between two large trees, letting my soul unwind. Later in the afternoon, we take a leisurely stroll to the small pebble cove adjacent to our property, where we dive into the rolling waves. As dusk falls, we return home for another exquisite meal.

Pirates and Trams

The following day, we set out to visit the charming coastal town of Port de Sóller. In the past, pirate attacks were a frequent threat here, prompting the residents to construct powerful protective walls. Today, of course, there’s no such danger, allowing us to leisurely climb up to Torre Picada, an old watchtower. Perched high above the cliffs, we take a long break to soak in the spectacular panoramic views before making our descent.

As we reach the bottom, an orange tram suddenly rattles past us—it looks like something straight out of an old Hollywood movie. This colorful vehicle was once used to transport oranges. Today, it serves mainly as a charming tourist attraction, lovingly maintained in its original state.

We decide to skip the tram ride and continue walking toward the beach. There, we marvel at the sailboats dancing on the waves as the sun slowly sinks into the sea. Since the finca staff has the evening off, we opt for a romantic candlelit dinner at Agapanto, a restaurant with stunning views over the bay. The evening’s culinary delights begin with starters like salmon tartare on mango dip or grilled vegetables from the restaurant’s own garden. For the main course, meat lovers can indulge in a juicy Galician beef fillet with chili-chocolate sauce, vegetables, and rösti, while vegetarians can savor homemade ravioli stuffed with cream cheese, mushrooms, and almonds. For dessert, we choose between a sweet strawberry gazpacho with yogurt or a hearty cheese platter. Exhausted from the day’s adventures, we retire early to bed.

A Yacht Trip to Dragon Island

The next morning, we set out bright and early for the highlight of our trip. After an hour’s drive, we reach the picturesque port town of Port d’Andratx. White luxury yachts and charming fishing boats glide across the deep blue waves, with the lush green mountains of the Tramuntana range rising in the background. At the harbor, our skipper awaits us aboard the luxurious Sunreef 62 catamaran. With full sails, we set course for Sa Dragonera, a small island whose shape indeed resembles a sleeping dragon.

Jagged cliffs and low shrubs dominate the island’s rugged landscape. Flocks of seabirds nest in the rocks, and countless swift lizards dart between the stones. We hike along narrow paths up to the Far Vell lighthouse at the island’s highest point before allowing ourselves to be rocked gently by the waves on the way back. Sun, wind, and the vast ocean combine to create an unforgettable experience as we sail across the water.

Back on land, we treat ourselves to a dose of caffeine and a light snack on the terrace of “Cappuccino,” savoring the unique view of the marina one last time. Energized, we embark on a shopping spree along the harbor street, browsing small boutiques offering Mallorcan-style fashion as well as luxury designs from international brands. With our bags full, we return to our finca later that evening.

Sadly, this incredible vacation is now coming to an end, but we will always cherish the memories.
