After already introducing you to some of Mallorca’s most beautiful beaches in the North and East, we certainly don’t want to withhold the best bays from the Southeast to the Southwest, covering the lower half of the island. In these regions, choosing the perfect spot to relax, soak up the sun, or enjoy watersports is particularly challenging because there are so many options. This selection could easily be expanded even further.
MALLORCA’S MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES IN THE SOUTHEAST
Cala Anguila
Only 50 meters long but 120 meters wide, the beach of Cala Anguila is located south of Porto Cristo. With its fine white sand and turquoise-blue waters, it fulfills every expectation of a Mallorcan beach paradise. Snorkeling here is fantastic, and since the water entry is shallow, families with small children feel especially comfortable. Despite this, the atmosphere remains peaceful and romantic, partly thanks to the pine-covered cliffs surrounding the bay, offering shelter and a sense of seclusion. You’ll also experience the paradise of Mallorca at Finca Cristobal, located near Porto Cristo, which is perfectly designed for a luxury vacation.
Cala Sa Nau
Little known among tourists but a favorite among locals, Cala Sa Nau is only 35 meters wide. If you prefer to avoid crowded beaches, this is the place for you. The water is so beautifully turquoise that you’ll want to dive in immediately. Cliffs with caves and pine forests provide wind protection for the very clean, gently sloping beach. While they do block the view of the open sea, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic sea views from Casa Concos, complete with spectacular sunsets.
A PARADISE FOR SWIMMERS IN THE SOUTH
Cala d’Or
The name “Cala d’Or” translates to “Golden Bay,” and it is indeed fitting. The small town, with only 4,000 residents, is nestled along numerous natural sea inlets, meaning there’s more than one bay to choose from. Besides Cala d’Or, Cala Gran and Cala Egos are also popular choices. These beaches are relatively small and can get crowded in the summer. It’s best to arrive early in the morning to enjoy the stunning views of the shimmering sea and the romantic ambiance. If it gets too busy, retreat to your Ocean Villa Cala Serena, conveniently located nearby in the bay of the same name in the southeast of Mallorca, offering picturesque views over the sea inlet.
Cala Mondragó | S’Amarador
Located in Santanyí, one of Mallorca’s most sought-after beach regions, Cala Mondragó is a paradise for nature lovers. Although no longer a hidden gem and often quite busy, the natural beauty remains untouched. Cala Mondragó is part of Mondragó Natural Park and consists of two connected beaches: Cala S’Amarador and Cala de ses Fonts de n’Alís. S’Amarador is slightly quieter and considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. It boasts bright, fine sand, crystal-clear water, and fascinating rock formations that provide shelter for marine life—making snorkeling here an exciting experience. Old pine and holm oak trees provide shade along the shoreline. As a base for exploring this beach and others in the region, we recommend staying at Villa Santanyí.
Cala Llombards
Another stunning option is Cala Llombards, a postcard-perfect beach with soft white sand, lush green cliffs on one side, and turquoise waters on the other. Sun loungers and a small beach bar are available. Although the beach is popular, there’s always enough space thanks to the long stretch of sand extending inland, a feature typical of the river-formed bays in Mallorca’s southeast. If you need a break from sunbathing, take a swim in the crystal-clear water or enjoy a coastal walk towards Cala Santanyí. If you head to the right, you’ll find a scenic viewpoint offering breathtaking views of Es Pontas, a natural rock arch rising from the sea. You can also enjoy stunning ocean panoramas from our nearby Casa Concos.
A HIDDEN GEM ON THE SOTHWEST COAST
Playa Es Trenc
Before reaching the densely hotel-packed coast towards Palma—where party tourism dominates—Es Trenc remains a sanctuary of peace. Some say the water here is reminiscent of the Caribbean, with its glowing turquoise hues against the bright white sand. Together with the adjacent dunes, the beach forms a pristine 1,500-hectare nature reserve, home to over 170 bird species. The seven-kilometer stretch of sand between Sa Ràpita and Colònia de Sant Jordi also includes an FKK (nudist) area. Behind the beach, you’ll find salt flats used for sea salt production.
If you want to stay in this region, we recommend the Villa Can Tarringo, a true oasis on the outskirts of Ses Salines, just a short drive from Playa Es Trenc.
