How the island of Ibiza enchanted me

My New Favorite Hotels on the Island

As I look out the window at the gray clouds and watch the trees losing their leaves in the autumn wind, I feel a strong longing for sunshine and blue skies. Savoring the last days of the vacation season* on the Balearic island, recharging my soul for the winter with its warmth, colors, and lightness—that’s exactly what I need! We quickly made our decision and are heading to southern Europe.

The vacation season in Ibiza begins in early May and ends in mid-October. Outside this period, most hotels are closed.

THE IBIZA SPIRIT: SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST PARTYING

Ibiza is known as a party island, but the celebrations here are relaxed and peaceful. Especially now in the off-season, you can enjoy the beach and pool undisturbed or explore Ibiza Town and its natural beauty in peace. Various luxury vacation homes and hotels in Ibiza embrace this unique spirit of joy and tranquility, offering trendy yet naturally comfortable accommodations.

Since I’m here, I don’t just want to stay in one hotel—I want to check out several and, ideally, bring them home for our LANDMARK portfolio. Below, I’d love to share my personal highlights with you.

ROMANTIC HIDEAWAY: HACIENDA NA XAMENA

Hacienda Na Xamena is located in northwestern Ibiza, perched on a hillside with a fantastic view of the sea and surrounding cliffs. It’s peaceful, idyllic, and romantic—an ideal hideaway for couples and honeymooners. The rooms are bright and modern, all featuring a Jacuzzi bathtub in the sleeping area, a balcony or terrace, and a breathtaking view of the sea and Mediterranean nature. The Eden Rooms, Junior Edén Suite, and Na Xamena Suite even offer a private open-air plunge pool.

There’s no better way to start the day than with a lavish breakfast at the hotel pool restaurant, and no better way to end it than with dinner at Restaurant Edén, watching the sunset over the sea. To explore the island’s culture, nightlife, and stunning beaches at your own pace, I highly recommend renting a car.

DREAM COMBINATION OF BEACH AND IBIZA TOWN: NOBU HOTEL IBIZA BAY

One of my absolute favorites is the new Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, which opened in summer 2017 on the southern coast, right by Talamanca Bay. The inviting, long beach is just steps away, and Ibiza Town is only a five-minute drive. This makes the hotel perfect for couples and families who want to stay centrally while combining relaxation with activities during their Ibiza vacation.

From the moment I step inside, I experience a wow moment: from the reception, a stunning view opens up of the pool and the sea! Besides the prime location, I’m impressed by the stylish and modern Mediterranean decor.

I also love that, in addition to the main pool, there’s a separate family pool with a juice and ice cream bar. Next to it, the beachside Chambao restaurant serves breakfast with your feet in the sand and later offers fresh seafood. By the main pool, the bar serves appetizing Mexican cuisine. There’s also Celicioso, a café-style restaurant specializing in healthy and vegan food. Recently, the hotel introduced the Ibiza Bay Spa by Six Senses, making it a magnet for wellness enthusiasts. It’s no surprise that discerning and trend-conscious travelers love staying here!

NEWEST HIGHLIGHT: SEVEN PINES RESORT IBIZA

At Seven Pines Resort Ibiza on the southwest coast, I get a sneak peek—it’s set to open in May 2018. Built on a hillside overlooking the sea, it offers a spectacular view. A pathway leads down to a small, private rocky cove. If you stay here, be sure to visit the nearby Cala Conta, just 1.5 kilometers away—its beach has been repeatedly named the most beautiful in Ibiza. Ibiza Town is about a 30-minute drive away.

During my visit, I tour a Two Bedroom Garden Suite with Pool. I love the fresh and contemporary design. Besides this category, there are One Bedroom Garden Suites (with or without a pool), Lagoon Pool Suites with one or two bedrooms and optional sea views, and Bay View Suites with stunning scenery—some even with two bedrooms and a private pool.

Seven Pines is perfect for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. It’s already available for booking through LANDMARK.

FINCA VACATION WITH A MODERN TWIST: ATZARÓ

Another truly special place in Ibiza is Atzaró—not just a hotel but a centuries-old orange farm renovated in a modern finca style. Nestled in the island’s rural interior, this estate is a dream retreat for those seeking tranquility and wellness. The lush gardens at Atzaró are pure paradise! The scent of lemon and orange trees fills the air, and daybeds are scattered throughout for ultimate relaxation. Even the vegetables for the hotel’s restaurant are grown here.

Mornings start leisurely with breakfast on the charming terrace. The expansive pool area, with lounge beds and a snack bar, invites you to sunbathe and refresh. A yoga session at the fitness club and a soothing massage at the Asian-inspired spa are the only things on the to-do list—though it’s more of a to-want list here, as stress and obligations are left far behind.

Each room at Atzaró is a little oasis of its own. No two are alike, and each holds a unique surprise—whether a fountain, a Jacuzzi, or a fireplace.

Oh, I’m absolutely enchanted after these incredible days on Ibiza! The island is simply lovely, and with a rental car, it’s easy to explore every corner. Here, relaxation and activity blend seamlessly. The much-celebrated magical energy of Eivissa—as Ibiza is called in Catalan—has captivated me as well. I’ll be back soon, hopefully next year!
